Boxlight’s Labdisc Named Finalist in 2017 EdTech Digest Awards

Innovative Portable STEM Lab Continues To Win Acclaim As Emerging Technology Solution Transforming STEM Education

Lawrenceville, GA — March 15, 2017 — For the fourth time in as many months, Boxlight (www.boxlight.com), a global leader in digital teaching and learning technologies, has received recognition from the educational technology industry. This most recent honor, being named a Cool Tool finalist in the Emerging Technology Solution category for the 2017 EdTech Digest Awards program, is for its Labdisc portable STEM lab.

The decidedly competitive awards program recognizes outstanding solutions and the best and brightest minds in the education and technology sector each year. In addition to the emerging technology solution category, this year’s program featured dozens of categories, including best new product or services, academic gaming solutions, hardware products and more.

Previously, the Boxlight Labdisc received a “Best in Show” award from Tech & Learning magazine at this year’s TCEA conference in Austin, Tex. In December, the company’s MimioTeach™ portable interactive whiteboard was named “best upgraded product” in the 34th annual Awards of Excellence program sponsored by Tech & Learning magazine. Additionally, the company’s groundbreaking MimioMobile™ collaboration and assessment app with MimioStudio™ classroom software made District Administration magazine’s 2016 Readers’ Choice Top 100 program and was also named a finalist in the 2017 BETT program—the industry’s largest global conference, held in London in late January.

“This honor from EdTech Digest is one more affirmation that Boxlight is leading the digital learning transformation by offering the interactive technologies in the classroom,” said Mark Elliott, CEO of Boxlight. “We continue to be poised to set the K-12 education market on a trajectory that successfully engages young learners and enhances the effectiveness of K-12 educators by providing them with the stand-out products that truly will change the face of education as we know it for this next generation of learners.”

Boxlight’s Labdisc is an all-in-one, complete lab that fits in the palm of your hand. It is the only solution for K-12 science with up to 14 wireless sensors built into a single compact device – revolutionizing science in terms of convenience, cost and portability.

The Labdisc’s large number of high quality sensors and portability opens the door for inquiry-based learning vital in STEM education in a variety of science fields, including biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science and geography.

The Boxlight Labdisc also includes unique features like the GPS probe, which harnesses GPS to plot sensor values as a layer over a Google map, and it offers a robust battery that supplies over 150 hours of battery life. This helps students connect and engage with science anywhere. It also serves as an ideal solution for long-term experiments such as plant growth, weather change and pollution.

A distinguished panel of industry influencers and veterans conducted this year’s evaluation proceedings. “There is a great deal of talent and quality out there, and we’re excited to recognize these Cool Tools, leaders and trendsetters in the education technology space,” said Victor Rivero who oversees the program as editor-in-chief of EdTech Digest. “There are now thousands of startups, apps and companies working in edtech, more than ever before. Shining a spotlight on the best and brightest, we intend to generate even more activity in this sector to continue pushing forward a slow revolution for the benefit of future generations.”
