Boxlight, Aldrin Family Foundation and ShareSpace Education Partner to Inspire K-12 Students with Hands-On STEAM Educational Tools

Together, Boxlight’s Mimio MyBot educational robotics system and SSE’s interactive space map programs will help students develop core skills and spark a passion for STEAM learning

Lawrenceville, GA, July 15, 2019 – Since the Apollo 11 Moon landing 50 years ago, generations of school children have seen how the real-world application of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) can lead to awe-inspiring achievements. Boxlight Corporation (BOXL), the Aldrin Family Foundation (AFF) and ShareSpace Education (SSE) today announced that they are partnering to provide K-12 schools with innovative, new educational tools for STEAM learning. Working together, they will extend AFF’s mission to reach 3 to 5 million students over five years to ignite students’ passion for STEAM, with a focus on math and science, and motivate them to take giant leaps forward in the development and application of core STEAM skills.

As part of this partnership, Boxlight, a leading provider of interactive technology solutions for the global education market, will integrate SSE’s Giant Moon Map™ and Giant Mars Map™ programs into the Mimio MyBot educational robotics system. Boxlight and SSE will join forces during the 2019-20 school year to offer the solution to K-12 districts and schools across the United States, with a focus on reaching under-served urban communities.

“This partnership with Boxlight takes our STEAM education programs to the next level and truly allows the students to immerse themselves in the giant maps, sparking creativity, promoting teamwork and stimulating innovative thinking,” said Dr. Andrew Aldrin, president of AFF.

The Mimio MyBot system helps students develop core skills in programming, engineering and robotics. It includes the Wi-Fi enabled Fusion™ robotic controller, an easy-to-use interface, educational content, and an extensive set of building components. In addition, the system will include SSE’s Giant Mars Map and Giant Moon Map. The interactive space map programs feature authentic, engaging lessons and activities that help children develop an understanding of real-world, STEAM-based concepts while promoting communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking skills.

“We’re excited to partner with ShareSpace Education and the Aldrin Family Foundation to inspire students and encourage their participation in STEM robotics competitions and STEAM-related careers,” said Boxlight CEO Mark Elliott. “As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, it’s the perfect time to spark students’ interest in STEAM and motivate the innovators and explorers of tomorrow.”
